RAPID REVIEW

Information updated October 2024

The J.M. Smucker Company mass produces Uncrustables targeted at children.

The J.M. Smucker Company goal is $1 billion in annual net sales for Uncrustables by the end of their 2026 fiscal year

Uncrustables are frozen sandwiches designed to be thawed and eaten for a meal. The original version was a Peanut Butter & Grape Jelly sandwich, so we’ll look at that.

Shown below, this product has numerous ingredients Not In Kitchen™ >> ingredients we would never use at home to make a Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich.

One Smucker’s Uncrustables contains four ingredients banned at Whole Foods >> Fully Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Fully Hydrogenated Rapeseed Oil, Potassium Sorbate and Calcium Peroxide.

There is Added Sugar in the Bread, the Peanut Butter and the Grape Jelly.

In Smucker’s Concord Grape Jelly — the one in which comes in a jar — the first ingredient is Concord Grape Juice. For the Grape Jelly in these kid-targeted Uncrustables, the first ingredient is Sugar. (Source: The J.M. Smucker Company Smucker’s Web site 10/24)

Seen below, The J.M. Smucker Company states, “At Smucker, quality always comes first.”
