WHAT'S IN BRACH'S CANDY CORN?

Information updated October 2024

Candy Corn . . . it’s the perennial Halloween favorite!

Let's see what’s inside the leading brand of U.S. Candy Corn, Brach’s - Then vs. Now. (Sources: Historical Brach’s Candy Corn package and Ferrara Brach’s Web site 10/23)

Brach’s Candy Corn has been in production for decades and Brach’s Fine Candies touted its Candy Corn as “the finest”:

Shown below >> THEN vs. NOW COMPARISON: Brach’s Candy Corn once contained Honey as the 4th ingredient; there was more Honey than there was Artificial Flavor.

Now, Brach’s is owned by Ferrara and Honey is the 9th ingredient . . . there is now more Artificial Flavor than there is Honey.

Today, Brach’s Candy Corn contains four ingredients banned at Whole Foods >> three Artificial Colors plus Artificial Flavor. (Source for banned ingredients: Amazon Whole Foods Web site 10/24)

THERE’S MORE THAN JUST ADDED COCOA IN BRACH’S HARVEST CORN: Below is a comparison of Brach’s Classic Candy Corn with 12 ingredients vs. Harvest Corn which has 17 ingredients and a chocolate flavored bottom layer.

Both of these Brach’s products have multiple ingredients banned at Whole Foods, but the Harvest Corn has more (7) including Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil.

Seen below, Jelly Belly Candy Corn and Edelweiss Candy Corn are the same product with identical ingredient lists; it is likely that Jelly Belly makes the Candy Corn which Edelweiss packages under their brand name.

And we leave you with some Brach’s Candy ads from the past when Brach’s Candies were positioned on Freshness.
