There are so many lovely winter holiday beverage traditions to enjoy . . . Egg Nog, Spiced Apple Cider and Hot Chocolate, to name a few.
Unfortunately, Starbucks Holiday Frappuccinos may taste good, but they all contain two or more ingredients which would have them banned at Whole Foods — ingredients which Whole Foods cites as “Unacceptable”. Here’s a snapshot of three Starbucks Holiday Frappuccinos >> White Chocolate Mocha, Caramel Brulée and Peppermint Mocha.
Although Frappuccino is a play on the word ‘Cappuccino’ — an Italian drink made with Espresso — these Starbucks Frappuccinos contain no Espresso.
These Starbucks Frappuccinos contain Coffee and Coffee-flavored Syrup.
STARBUCKS PEPPERMINT FLAVORED MOCHA FRAPPUCCINO CONTAINS THREE INGREDIENTS BANNED AT WHOLE FOODS, HAS NO REAL PEPPERMINT LISTED AS AN INGREDIENT and NO ESPRESSO: It states ‘Peppermint Syrup’ in the ingredients, but there is no real Peppermint listed as an ingredient in the Peppermint Mocha; rather, there is flavoring which is designed to taste like Peppermint.
This Starbucks Peppermint-flavored Syrup is banned at Whole Foods for containing Sodium Benzoate which is an FDA-recognized Chemical Preservative. (Source: U.S. FDA 2023) It also contains Citric Acid which is another FDA-recognized Chemical Preservative. Unless it is specifically noted as “Naturally Derived”, Citric Acid is made using Black Mold.
The Whipped Cream at Starbucks contains two Emulsifying Agents and a Thickening Agent made from Seaweed >> Carrageenan. Many people have significant allergic reactions to Carrageenan.
Seen below, Starbucks Caramel Brulée Frappuccino is banned at Whole Foods, has no espresso and contains 19 commercial ingredients we would never use at home to make a frozen coffee drink.
