Information updated March 2024

There are several places available for students and faculty to dine on the Georgetown University campus >> the menus here are used as an information source for this review:

Similar to other higher learning institutions such as Stanford University, Georgetown University On-campus Dining includes some offerings which are Closest To Homemade® — the ingredients used are closest to those we might use at home to make this item from scratch — but the majority of offerings are Far From Homemade and include many commercial items we would never use at home.

THE NOT-SO-GOOD NEWS: Seen below, the seemingly simple Sub Roll at Georgetown University contains multiple commercial ingredients Not In Kitchen™ and seven ingredients banned at Amazon-owned Whole Foods including multiple chemical preservatives.

SALAD DRESSING: Something as easy-to-make-from-scratch as Italian Vinaigrette at Georgetown contains 8 ingredients which Whole Foods cite as “Unacceptable in food” including 2 Artificial Colors, 2 Chemical Flavor Enhancers, High Fructose Corn Syrup and 3 Chemical Preservatives. There are also several other ingredients which are Not In Kitchen when making homemade Salad Dressing such as Caramel Color, Propylene Glycol Alginate, Autolyzed Yeast Extract, Maltodextrin, commercial Natural Flavor and Soybean Oil.
